how many of you who grew up in the truth truly loved a sport and fought hard against your jw parents to get to play it?

my determination to play come hell or high water led to my mother turning me over to the state as a youngster, which then lead to foster care and freedom until i foolishly came back to the borg as an adult.
Step-dad was non-dub. I got to play any sport I wanted after he and my mom decided that hangin' with the pot-smoking PE crowd wasn't a good idea. I loved playin' football in small-town Texas. Friday Night Lights, Baby!
I think that's when I realized that the lies about the "worldy" [sic] people weren't as evil as I had been told by the Witlesses.
when i was a jw, i always wondered what happened to people who got df'd and left 'the truth'.
i always figured they were living in the gutter or living a sinful, selfish life.. i was wondering if sending a pleasant note in a christmas card would let some know that life on the outside isn't the condemned life they think it is.
i know that the christmas card will show that 'i have fallen that far', but i liked the dig in sending it.. i live 1500 miles from my old home so no one knows my situation.
Every year I send cards to the Dubs I know, back home. They cut off the Merry Christmas part and hang the picture.

i went to our xmas party last night and had a great time, although i drank too much and staggered about a bit.
hubby said i didnt do anything silly or embarrassing.
so why have i got this horrible feeling that ive done something?
Booze seems to wipe out my dopamine levels affecting my mood. I don't know if it's true or not but it gets me off my butt to run a few miles after a long night of wine and song. I would go and work out/exercise as soon as possible. You'll feel a million times better once you "sweat" it out.
my husband and i are throwing around the idea of moving to a different state.
nothing is set in stone yet, but some changes in his career may allow for us to move wherever we like in the u.s. i love washington state, but i would like to move somewhere a little warmer.
i've lived in washington all my life and i need a little help in learning about the rest of the u.s.. so convince me to move to your state.

Texas is big (254 counties), as someone else wrote above, and has a lot to offer. We have 7 different, distinct regions. Surely we offer something that's "pretty" to you.

I am native Texan. Love it. A lot to do, see and be. Good economy, good job market. Good real estate for investing. I live in a great city, a lot of great food, music and people. We have more bands here on a Tuesday night than Nashville. Great schools. We have 11 colleges in my town alone. We do have a lot of Calif's moving here and buying. Whatever. Bring it on. Did I mention Roller Girls, Roller Derby? It's awesome.
I would suggest instead of getting a palacial mansion, get a smaller house in great neighborhood and invest in some rent houses/flips. You'll be set.

I'm for Peace but I'm also for protecting the US. If it takes violence then go big. But that's not the point of this thread. I'm asking a question because I want to know. I truly don't understand when it's okay.
i find the term apostate used freely towards those who have left the org, by both witnesses hiding and also ex witnesses calling themselves that.

i have been out for over 6 years and the last thing i consider myself is an apostate.
I have no friends that are Dubs, with whom I associate now. My family doesn't talk to me about Jehoobie any longer b/c they know I just don't care. Any time they talk about Jehoobie, I tell them to go all the way back to the primordial ooze. Let's start there. They don't know anything about that so they've stopped bugging me.
If I did know Dubs currently, I could not care less what they call me. If someone on this board calls me that, well I assume it's a term of endearment. I call my kid a turd. So what? She knows what I mean... and she is a little turd.
